Focus on Technology. Hygrometry.

Hygrometry is the measurement of the amount of water vapour in, amongst other materials, air. At Dovedale Dampcure Services Ltd we use instruments which can quite accurately measure the quantity of moisture in a given volume of air. The value is recorded as a % RH (Relative Humidity). The figure of RH is worked out a differential of two known temperatures, wet bulb and dry bulb temps. So how does this technology help us to give customers and accurate diagnosis? Well, for us utilising electronic hygrometry enables us to ‘fill in the gaps'‘, so to speak. when it is used in conjunction with other methods such as the before talked about Thermography. Using it we can add layer of assurance.

If whilst in a customers home we record an on average RH figure of, say, 70% RH, we know that this is a perhaps less well ventilated home as a normal high would tend to be around 45%- 50% RH. With this being the case we are then prompted to look down a series of explanatory paths, as opposed to certain others. In other words we can narrow our search down considerably and reliably as the science is never wrong!
