Focus on Technology

At Dovedale Dampcure Services Ltd we like to utilise the very latest tech in order to provide customers the most accurate damp diagnosis.

Technology like infrared and laser thermometers is used to determine the temperature differentials around the property. Temperature differences are often good indicators of particular kinds of dampness such as condensation dampness. Often other factors are at play which, when detected, are also further indicators of the type of dampness. In days of old things were no less detailed and stringent, Dovedale Dampcure Services Ltd, would often carry out what’s know as Calcium Carbide tests. This involved drilling a series of holes at varying widths and heights in a wall. The dust from each hole would then be weighed and placed in an airtight jar along with a Reagent material called calcium carbide. This would give a reading in terms of a percentage of moisture for the given sample. This process was actually very accurate, but ultimately very time consuming needing several minutes for each separate test. Not only was it time costly but also, by its very nature, quite destructive.

In the next blogs I will try to concentrate on the varying bits of tech which we typically use in order to drive a sound diagnosis.
